Options to help handle the stresses of life

Pain relief & rehabilitation therapy

Are you suffer from headaches, neck, back or hip pain?

Do you find that you are now unable to do the things you used to be able to do just a few short days, months or years ago?

Has your outlook on life changed because of the constant pain you’re in?

Clinical Bodywork

I specialize in pain relief, pain management and injury rehabilitation through non-invasive, non-surgical, movement and hands-on massage & bodywork therapy.

I can help:

  • Get You Out Of Pain
  • Improve Your Ability To Move Your Body With Less Stress & Strain
  • Teach You Easy Secrets To Improve Your Posture
  • Educate You On Proper Bio-mechanics & Ergonomics (How to lift, bend, sit, work, etc)

Clients often experience significant relief from pain in their very first session, remarking that it feels like we’re “getting to the spot” responsible for their pain. Having experienced this work, many clients find themselves capable of self care treatment strategies for these points.

I want to work with you to have less pain, move more freely, sleep better, breathe better and live better!

Relaxation & tension relief therapy

For many of us, modern life includes levels of stress in our family and work life that we didn’t experience even 20 years ago. One of the byproducts of a connected life is the constant battle for our attention. Family, work and social obligations, deadlines and events all take their toll. And while none of these things may be bad for us or negative, all these different facets of our lives can act like a pressure cooker slowly breaking us down.

Have you ever found yourself clenching your teeth or tensing your shoulders?

Are you getting the sleep you need and waking up rested or do you fall asleep to the glow of your mobile phone and wake up to the sound of a new email or text?

Massage can help

While the causes which lead to these conditions are varied, the commonalities we find in the vast majority of cases are chronically inflamed knots in the muscles.

By releasing these knots and increasing blood supply to the muscle tissue we can often reduce spasm and pain, allowing for relaxation and resetting our baseline, releasing that pressure cooker!

Daniel Gonzalez

Certified Massage Therapist #24633

DanielI have spent a lifetime serving others. While running a successful web development business, I experienced a life changing event that brought me to a deeper understanding regarding the importance of touch and the profound difference massage and other forms of bodywork can make; peace of mind and body. That understanding lead me to change the direction of my life completely and devote myself to studying massage and other forms of bodywork in order to be of the best service I can be to others.

After graduating from the Kali Institute for Massage & Somatic Therapies in 2011, I have worked in various Spas and clinics including Breathe Aroma Therapy Spa in Ojai CA and Spa Del Mar at Fess Parker’s Doubletree Resort in Santa Barbara CA. With my understanding of business and therapeutic bodywork, I now provide a massage & bodywork service specializing in migraine and headache relief to individuals in need in the Santa Barbara area.

I believe that receiving consistent massage therapy creates the opportunity for a more balanced life. I appreciate the importance in nurturing ourselves to sustain balanced well-being and feel blessed to be a part of the process for others.

Results driven therapy

Most massage and bodywork services focus on time. 60 minute, 90 minute massage services are typical. Services at CENTRAL COAST MASSAGE & BODYWORK are driven by RESULTS. The majority of clients that I see make appointments because of some issue related to tightness, pain, inflammation, or a combination of any number of ailments. In these situations we can’t assume that time (a 60 or 90 minute session) will relieve our problems. In these situations we want results.

When we go to the dentist for a cleaning, we don’t ask for a 60 minute cleaning, we go to get our teeth cleaned. The same concept applies to the services provided at CENTRAL COAST MASSAGE & BODYWORK. We will focus on the issues that are troubling you and have you feeling better when you leave than when you walked through the door.

If you’re suffering today, I urge you to consider CENTRAL COAST MASSAGE & BODYWORK to help get you out of pain. I know you will be happy that you did!

  • Initial Evaluation
In an Initial Evaluation we determine exactly what is going on with your body: what your range of motion is, muscular strength, postural assessment, discuss therapies you have tried in the past, etc. Based on these results, we will design a full therapy plan which will give you the quickest pain relief and most comprehensive improvements.
  • Targeted Session
The purpose of a Targeted session is to address one area or complaint, such as neck pain from sleeping in an awkward position. Targeted sessions are approximately 30 minutes.
  • Expanded Session
With the Expanded session our goal is to address more than one area that needs focus or if the condition is more complex than just a single muscle group, such as shoulder impingement that is causing tingling in the hand and fingers. There are other structures that must be addressed in order to treat the complaint. Expanded sessions last approximately 60 minutes.

I have been a migraine sufferer for 20 years and the pain was excruciating. I have been getting massages from Daniel specifically for migraines and overall bodywork. I ALWAYS feel relieved of the throbbing head pain and nausea! Daniel always makes sure I am comfortable, asks questions and more importantly, he listens! Thank you Daniel for being flexible with my schedule and helping me when nothing and no one else could. You are THE BEST!!!!

I highly recommend Daniel as a massage therapist. He really understands the body. His is able to figure out what is causing the tightness and pain. I have had neck and low back aches and after having Daniel work on me, the pain is gone and I feel so much better. Getting a massage from Daniel is, in my opinion, a great way to  prevent injury too. I think it is money well spent! He is extremely professional, makes you feel relaxed and extremely knowledgeable.

I have been seeing Daniel now for about 2 years and I have to say, each massage is just as good, if not better than the last. I am never disappointed and I always leave feeling 10 times better.

I am also a trained massage therapist as well, so for me, I can only go to someone that really knows the anatomy of the body and actions of the muscles to properly address my many issues. I have horrible chronic neck problems, a place of the body that not many know how to really get into or are afraid to. He is so talented in his ability to single out certain muscles and follow them all the way through, he balances everything perfectly and never over does it. Firm pressure with no soreness or bruising.

Anyone can do a massage, not EVERYONE understands the body. Daniel does. He is very knowledgeable, intuitive and very kind. He takes pride in his work and has passion for what he does. Make an appointment, your body will thank you for weeks!!

How should I prepare?

It is best not to eat a heavy meal just before a massage. In addition, any medication that alters your sensory awareness should be avoided if possible, so that you can give clear feedback during your session. This includes asprin or other pain relievers. And, of course, it is never appropriate to arrive at a session under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

What do I wear during a session?

Depending on the primary technique, you may or may not need to undress. For a full body massage, most people undress completely. However, you may choose to wear underwear. You will be given privacy to undress, and you will be covered with a sheet and blanket at all times except the area being worked on.

What do I do during a session?

Make yourself comfortable. You will occasionally need to adjust your position during the session. You will be asked to move what is needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It’s up to you. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time.

How will I feel after a session?

Most people feel very relaxed. Some experience freedom from long-term aches and pains developed from tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of feeling slowed down, people often experience increased energy, heightened awareness, and greater productivity which can last for days. Since toxins are released from your soft tissues, it is recommended you drink plenty of water following your session.

A note on pressure

Studies show “too deep or too light” is the most common complaint in the massage and bodywork industry. I will make every effort to make sure the pressure is just right. During the session we may use a 0-10 pain scale (zero = no pain, 10 = severe pain). The “sweet spot” is in the range of 5 to 7 in order to provide the greatest therapeutic benefits. I do encourage you to speak up at any time and provide feedback. I am here to provide the best and most effective massage possible for you.

When do I pay?

For clients booking for themselves, payment is due after the massage. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard American Express and Discover.

Cancellation policy

We all agree – time is very important. Please contact us at least 24 hours to cancel or change your appointment. Missed appointments will incur a fee equal to 50% of the treatment fee.
